Fun With Trash
We are very excited about our forthcoming, Qatar Earth Day, “Fun with Trash” competition-exhibition that will take place from Wednesday, May 10, 2017 to Saturday, May 20, 2017 in Hyatt Plaza Shopping Mall. The “Fun with Trash” challenge was created to get students and teachers interested in environmental conservation through various forms of art. This contest inspires students to be creative while expanding their understanding more about the three chasing arrows of the international recycling logo. This Earth Day competition is open to students 11-18 years old, however students must be enrolled in an international primary or secondary school to enter. In the month of April we will also be hosting training workshops at Jungle Zone, in Hyatt Plaza Shopping Mall, to inspire the learners for the competition. During these two-hour workshops every Saturday (for the duration of a month), we will assist contestants with their projects lying ahead, teaching them innovative techniques they can apply to their designs. They will learn to consider creative ways how recycled materials can be cut, folded, molded, knotted, woven etc.
We will also teach the students valuable life skills in time management, goal setting, self-motivation, planning and working in teams that they can take into future, everyday assignments. Participants will submit their artwork at our exhibition venue on Saturday, May 6, 2017. A panel of judges will evaluate their work during the event to prize the top three designs from each category during the prize ceremony on Saturday, May 20, 2017.
Participants can choose to either construct a product design or fashion item (more details included in the attached competition package). Guests will also have the opportunity to walk through the showcases, on the days of the event, enjoy a beautiful fashion show where the top twenty fashion entries will be walking down a runway and attend the prize ceremony at the end.
It gives us great pleasure to invite your students to participate in our competition and exhibition. We have attached a copy of our Competition Package for more information to inform the kids of this wonderful opportunity. Students can register online, by filling out the ONLINE FORM. Once they have submitted their form, we will have all their details to contact them with more information on our competition-exhibition.
We hope to have all the students taking part in this exciting project not only for the enjoyment but also to equip them with basic life skills and an inspirational mind.
